Vintage 1940's military box files.
Polished finish with olive drab interior.
.................................................................................
Having acquired a large batch of these 1940's steel box files we sold those with their painted exterior in good condition and set about polishing the remainder. We beleive that they were manufactured by Sankey Sheldon, leading makers of British steel office furniture.
Each box file is neatly constructed from folded, pressed steel. Having painstakingly hand stripped the remaining paintwork care has been taken not to over polish, leaving some surface patination emphasising their age. The polished surface is then sealed to preserve the finish.
The polishing process hightlights the raised areas including the neat triangular label holders, rolled edges and hinge which runs along the length of each box. When opened the contrasting olive green interior is revealed.
Ideal for storing paperwork, they look great in groups and will easily last another lifetime. They hold a years worth of our favourite magazines, so would make a fab Christmas present with an annual subscription.
