Naval EDL Machinists Lamps.
Grey/blue original paintwork.
It was great to find a trio of these ever popular machinist lamps in unusual blue grey paintwork, rather than the normal green. We believe they have a naval origin having been salvaged from a south coast dockyard building.
Each lamp retains it's original gold transfer 'MADE IN ENGLAND' logo, together with the following intructions for use:
'IF JOINTS MOVE TOO FREELY TIGHTEN JOINT SCREWS A LITTLE. TO ENSURE GOOD LIGHT CLEAN INSIDE OF SHADE EVERY WEEK'.
Judging by the amount of dirt and grime we cleaned away these care instructions had not been followed, but at least this had preserved the enamel shades in a lusterous, near mint condition.
This trio have cast iron junction boxes with L brackets for wall or bench mounting. We have polished the alloy swivel joint at the base, the galvanised nuts and bolts to each joint and the shade holders but preserved the remaining paintwork.
These lamps will be re-wired to order with purchaser's choice of flex and switched or unswitched bulb holder as required. If supplied with a plug lamps will be PAT tested before dispatch.
