English Porcelain Glove Mold.
A.G Hackney, Burslem.
Contintinental or american made versions of these porcelain rubber glove molds are relatively easy to source, but it's nice to find a British made example . Attractive, if slightly eerie sculptural objects they can also be put to practical use displaying jewellery/keys etc.
This size 7 mold was made by A.G Hackney, a porcelain manufacturer who was operating in Burslem, Stoke On Trent right up until the begining of this century using one of the few remaining bottle kilns to fire the porcelain.
The slender porcelain hand is fixed on to the original metal bracket which would have suspended the mould in the rubber solution. We can mount this for your on a piece of hardwood within the sale price. We have also seen them used as light fixtures, wall mounted holding a caged lamp (contact us for a quote if you are interested in using one this way as we usually have suitable lamps in stock).
