Vintage Bamforth Coat/Luggage Rack
Railway ticket office salvage.
The sleek futuristic design of this coat/luggage rack is unmistakably 60's. More surprising is the fact that it was salvaged from a railway station where it had sat, barely used in the corner of the ticket office since its purchase in the late 1960's.
The sleek lines of the cast alloy hat rack may be recognisable to regular commuters as we understand the same company were responsible for some of the overhead train luggage racks of the inter-city era.
Below the alloy rack, a row of eight steel hangers are suspended, whilst each side features an alloy and rubber umbrella/stick holder, the drip trays being incorporated into the cast iron feet. The main frame is finished in the original dark battleship grey powder coating which remains in very good condition.
An elegant piece of modernist design, with form perfectly following function. Ideal for domestic use because of its neat proportions, but would also work in an office or for retail/display.
