||||
Rarely found in the UK this Antipodean 'STUDIO K 'poseable task lamp was designed by Bill Iggulden in 1962 and was produced by his manufacturing company 'PLANET LIGHTING'. It is now considered an Australian design classic it went on to win several industrial design awards. The Studio K task lamp appeared in both bench mounted and floor standing models. This lamp, finished in the original mustard colour, stands on a heavy circular cast iron base the central column terminates in a fork with a press on/off switch. Arm movement is balanced with two brass springs, tension is adjusted via a knurled knob. The arm sections operate as a 'parallelograming double wishbone', the left hand spring tensions the rear section whilst the right spring counter tensions the front . The slim, angular aluminium shade pivots at the neck and is designed for even illumination. All parts are original (including the co-ordinating mustard coloured cable) apart from the brass lamp holder, which is a replacement to comply with UK electrical standards.
