MID CENTURY PICQUOT WARE K3 KETTLES POLISHED MAGNAILIUM ALLOY WITH SYCAMORE HANDLES. |
||||
Designed in 1938, and manufatured by Burrage & Boyd the K3 kettle was initially produced under the 'Newmaid' name, then re-branded as 'Picquot ware ' post war as production was stepped up and the range increased to include full tea sets. The sculptural shape is cast in one piece from mirror polished Magnailium, a specially developed alloy of aluminium & magnesium. The Sycamore handles were advertised as scorch proof however care should be taken when using on a gas hob . Chemical de-scalers can react with the alloy pitting the insides ( white vinegar used regularly will prevent limescale build up). We have acquired a pair from a collector, unused condtion but some wear/storage marks to the outside polish, insides are immaculate each comes complete with care leaflet & tag. There are small differences in the shape, the way the lid fits (one is notched) and the handle colour. Can be used on solid fuel, gas, & ceramic hobs but not suitable for induction hobs. £ 225.00 each including U.K p& p Dark handle RESERVED DIMENSIONS: Base diameter 21 cm, length at spout 25t cm capacity approx. 3 pints.
