BRONZE PIVOTING RAILWAY CARRIAGE LAMPS EARLY 20TH CENTURY LONG CURVED FITTINGS WITH TWO POINT ARTICULATION. |
||||
An unsual pair of early 20th century wall mounted task lamps, possibly designed for railway use ( their curved profile echo's the shape of a train carriage). Held proud of the wall on a single cast alloy bracket the three fixing points ensure the arm is firmly anchored whilst an interlocking collar with a 'stop' bracket allows the lamp a 180 degree pivoting motion. A central stepped joint on the patinated bronze pole houses the on/off toggle switch, the curved pole is topped with a nickel ball and socket compression joint, a shorter curved neck section terminates in a further ball & socket which allows the head of the lamp 360 degree rotation. Simple milk glass coolie shades diffuse the light, fitted directly on to the lampholder and held in place with the shade ring.
