When we manage to source original school galvanised wire pigeon holes we aim to sympathectically re-use them, incorporating them into a useful piece of furniture with a steel frame and a timber seat.
This is our 'Little Mester' bench, the name reflects our family's Sheffield heritage within the cutlery trade. 'Little Mesters' (including one of our great-grandfathers) were the self employed artisans who formed, sharpened and polished the raw steel into the finished pieces of cutlery.
These pictures are here simply to illustrate a previously sold bench incorporating a 10 section set of pigeon holes.
However, we HAVE just acquired two sets of 14 section pigeon holes awaiting similar treatment. The wirework is hung from a new box section steel frame and topped with a chunky piece of hardwood. The depth of the bench is 30cm, height 45cm, length 175cm to accomodate the x14 section wireworks (which are each 1600mm long). Little Mester is ideal for decluttering hallways.
These particular pictures illustrate Little Mester made with a reclaimed cedar top stained with Van Dyck Crystals (actually crushed wallnut shells).
