Cheap and cheerful cast resin letters are ten a penny and make a bold graphic statement but our favourites have always been the beautifully crafted vitreous enamelled copper and bronze letters favoured by the designers of municipal buildings from the 1920's through to the 50's.

These letter were formed from copper or bronze then filled with enamel which was then baked for a tough weather proof finish. The enamel shows wear an tear of over half a century sometimes revealing the base metal below, the copper has oxidised to a characterful verdigris.

Our personal collection started over 20 years ago with some wonderful letters rescued from a demolished water pumping station (they still have pride of place in our bathroom) but we have some similar on offer.
