Bandstand chairs from the Dorset Coast, worn green paint.

We bought a large number of these chairs from a Dorset coastal town a couple of years ago and now have just four left.

Surprisingly heavy and well made from iron and wood, these are similar to 'French cafe' chairs but made by a Dorchester furnishing company (name indistinguishable on bakelite label). They were used as 'bandstand chairs' by the local parks department, and have been overpainted many times in municipal parks green.

They are in sturdy, usable condition but show various degrees of wear to the paintwork. Some of the seat slats have been replaced over time, all have curved backs and fold away for winter storage.
