Co-operative shop sign letters.

Emerald green enamel on copper.

Another set of our favourite enamelled letters, the architects/designers choice from the 20's through to the 50's before the advent of lazer cut plastic. These were bought from a retired sign maker who hadn't the heart to get rid of them when the local CO-OP decided to update their signage.

It is lovely to find a set in green (cream or white letters are more commonplace). It is also nice to know their provenance and the shopfront they once graced here in Somerset.

These letter were formed from copper which was then filled with enamel and baked for a tough weather proof finish. The enamel shows wear an tear of over half a century sometimes revealing the base metal below, the copper has oxidised to a characterful verdigris.

All letters have threaded fixing lugs on the back where they would have been attached to a sign board.

We would love to sell them as a set, but understand not everyone wants to be cooperative!

£30.00 each or £300.00 for the set
