Set of four 1950's/60's Aluminium

& Bakelite storage canisters.

This highly polished set of aluminium storage canisters hail from the early years of fitted kitchens, where every ingredient had it's place. They really look the part in a fifties kitchen, particularly teamed with polished units, or just used to give a lift to a gloomy shelf.

Each canister is identical in shape and size and is embossed with its contents in a space-aged script running vertically down the front; SUGAR, COFFEE, TEA, RICE. The snug fitting lids keep the contents dry (maybe airtight), the shaped bakelite pulls are housed in a concave recess on the canister top.
