MID CENTURY POLISHED ALUMINIUM STEAMER TRUNKS BRASS RIVETS, LEATHER HANDLES & LUGGAGE LABELS |
||||
Two sizable aluminium steamer trunks acquired from the child of a british ex pat busininessman, who travelled as a babe in arms on the Cunard Line Queen Elizabeth 1 from New York to Southampton in the late 50's (lovely to have the tags and remnants of the cargo stickers to document the journey). These trunks are in very good condition showing just the right amount of wear and tear after 60 plus years of intercontinental travel. The exteriors have been lightly polished to bring back the shine to the aluminium surface and brass rivits, although both locks are present the keys are missing (it may be possible to source replacements if required as the locks are numbered). Inside they are both blue fabric lined, the larger trunk has a lift out top tray for smaller items. They look great as stacked storage but could also be used individually as coffee/occassional tables. In light of their history we would prefer to sell them together but may be willing to separate.
