1208 Square based architect's/draughtsman's Anglepoise.
G. Carwardine, Herbert Terry & Sons
We have been restoring these wonderful long reach Anglepoise's since we opened for business, believing that their elegance is often overlooked. It was the first lamp designed George Carwardine in the early 30's, early prototypes developed in his Automotive Engineering business in Bath before being licensed for commercial production to Herbert Terry & Sons.
These lamps differ from the 1227 domestic model, having been designed for the commercial environment of the drafting office or map room. This version has the long reach 18" arm sections, each of which is square section aluminium (later models have flat steel lower arm sections, some brass).
The cast iron square base has been burnished and sealed allowing smooth rotation. The fork, elbow and neck joints are polished brass, whilst a copper joint securely clamps the chrome shade holder. This model has a vintage brass earthed bulb holder. Supplied with 2 metres of black cloth covered vintage style flex and vintage style black plug fully P.A.T tested.
Alternative mounts available desk clamp, diamond bench mount, 2 styles of wall bracket as shown below.
