1227 ANGLEPOISE LAMP WITH BRASS ARMS RARE VERSION OF THE 12 inch ARMED DOMESTIC MODEL |
||||
The Anglepoise 1227 is the "domestic" version of George Cowardine's original "factory model" design. That earlier, 1209 family of lamps had 18 inch long arms where the 1227 model adopted more modest 12 inch arms and is the model most people bring to mind when prompted with the name "Anglepoise". Commonly, 1227s were built with beautifully extruded aluminium box section arms but this one has sturdy brass arms instead (a feature more commonly found in the larger industrial models). Stripped back, polished, rebuilt & to be rewired with brand new black cloth flex, black plug, a modern LED bulb and full PAT test. It features a beautiful, brass & ceramic switched bulb holder; a period item which has been entirely disassembled, restored and rebuilt. In several years of resoring these icons of British design history this is the first brass armed 1227 we've found.
